Victoria Place is one of a number of projects where Haskoll are advising the UK’s railway infrastructure company, Network Rail, on ways to maximise value from retail facilities at stations.
These projects present great opportunities to utilise the high pedestrian flows available in stations - Victoria Station has around 120m visitors each year - but also need an understanding of the special challenges of working around an operating railway system. Haskoll were appointed to design proposals for the refurbishment of the shopping centre and food court with the aim of re-launching Victoria Place as a retail and food and beverage location attracting a greater proportion of the flow of visitors to the station and from surrounding areas.
Haskoll’s proposals include improved presence onto the station concourse and for the street entrance, added value through new and reorganised leasable space at both levels, refreshment of all of the dated interior finishes, new shopfront designs and centre rebranding through new graphics and signage. Haskoll are also engaged to manage the design and fit out of the retail and catering tenants. Victoria Place was shortlisted for the BCSC Gold Awards 2014.
